The Door County Library recognizes that it has a role to play by partnering with, and learning directly from, Native communities and individuals and serving as a conduit for their knowledge and culture to the communities the Library serves.
The Door County Library acknowledges the original peoples and primary caretakers of this peninsula from time immemorial: the Potawatomi, Menominee, Ho-Chunk, Odawa, Ojibwe, Petun, Huron and Sauk peoples.
The land Door County Library locations serve is part of the ancestral and historical homelands of each of these Nations.
We pay respect to these roots of deep local land connections and value the traditional, ecological, cultural and language knowledge exchanges present today.
May we appreciate those who came before us and commit to partnering with, supporting, and learning from, First Nations today and into the future.
