Ladies of the Lake by Haywood Smith
You just can’t help falling in love with the characters in this book. Cissy the rich, crazy Grandmother who claims her first born was sired by Ernest Hemingway. Posthumously orders that in order to inherit her lake-front Georgian estate her 4 granddaughters,, Dahlia, Rose, Violet and Iris must move into her home in the mountains and stay together, there, for 90 days. Old rivalries ensue, jealousies flair, and sisters side with sisters. Can they stay together for 3 months without another death? (one of them killing each other?) The Lake property itself, becomes a character as the sisters that love it and the memories it evokes describe its beauty in breathless detail. The ladies arrive with a plan and hazmat kit to debug and fumigate the old place, but, find that someone has already been there before them. And thus enters a subplot and a strapping, wealthy mystery man.
