"The Wisconsin Gardener" videos

the Wisconsin GardenerWith lots of sun and rain in Door County this summer, local gardens are magnificent! Now is a good time to brush up on gardening skills and plans with the Wisconsin Public Television program, The Wisconsin Gardener. The library's old VHS tapes of this series have been replaced by a full set of DVDs.  There is even one program about Bailey's Harbor. Everybody's talking about Food, Inc.

At the recent Sustainability Fair at Crossroads in Sturgeon Bay, a number of people who stopped by the Door County Library table asked about the award-winning film, Food, Inc. This film seems to have really caught the public's eye. International Film Series : Lebanon

The Internation Film Series continues with  an award winning, critcally acclaimed film from Lebanon  Wednesday, April 21 at 6:30 pm in the Sturgeon Bay Library. Caramel tells the story of 5 modern day Lenanese women who meet daily in a beauty salon in Beirut. The women come from various walks of life, to talk, seek advice and confide in one another. Each has her own quirks and problems to deal with.  93 min. PG

March Film Series

shamrockMarch 17, St. Patrick’s Day, the Door County Library brings a little bit o’ Ireland to Sturgeon Bay. Join us in viewing the film Darby O’Gill and the Little People, the Disney classic about a storyteller and a group of leprechauns, at 3:00 pm. Then at 6:30 pm, cross the Irish Sea to Scotland for Local Hero, a comedy about American executives negotiating for oil rights with the people of a small, rural Scottish village. popcorn

Willa Cather on Film

The Big Read in Door County this year will focus on Willa Cather's My Ántonia. A film of the novel will be shown at the Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay on January 23 at 7:00 pm. This film and other films of Willa Cather's works are available through InfoSoup.org, the library catalog.
